Unlock Radiant Skin: A Comprehensive Guide to Progressive Chemical Peels
Natalie Brunello • March 5, 2025

When you hear “chemical peel,” what pops into your head? Maybe you picture a snake losing its skin or perhaps you are not sure what it's all about. The truth is that all chemical peels don’t have to come with long uncomfortable downtime or crazy skin peeling. Our progressive chemical peels focus on rejuvenation- a program to refresh and strengthen the skin, promoting a smoother, more youthful complexion. Keep reading to understand Sanctuary Spa’s approach to chemical peels.

What is a Progressive Chemical Peel?

For starters, a chemical peel is a resurfacing facial procedure that uses a chemical solution to remove the top layer of your skin. By removing dead skin and stimulating the growth of fresh, revived skin cells, a chemical peel accelerates cell turnover resulting in a smoother, more radiant appearance.

So why do we call it a Progressive chemical peel? Great question! The name reflects the gentle, yet highly effective approach we use to give your skin the glow it deserves. Instead of using harsh, synthetic ingredients, we proudly use Rhonda Allison (RA) products, which feature chirally corrected formulations to reach maximum efficacy. RA expertly blends nature with science, formulating their products with high quality natural ingredients and compounds.

With progressive peels, there is no need to worry about harsh peeling! One of our Senior Estheticians, Kim, notes that “while some deeper peels may involve some flaking, most of our treatments are gentle yet effective,” with minimal downtime. For long-term, transformative results, we recommend a series of 3-4 peel treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart. Kim adds, “The collective effects… [of] regular peels allow for progressive improvements, targeting deeper concerns like uneven tone, fine lines, or acne scars.”

Is a Progressive Chemical Peel right for you?

The guests skin at the end of the Progressive Chemical Peel service

Progressive peels are remarkably effective solutions for a wide range of skin concerns, from aging and rosacea to sensitivity and hormonal breakouts. Our guests are looking to take a long-range approach to get results with little downtime. These peels encourage stronger skin but also reduce the appearance of acne lesions, wrinkles, and redness. Another one of our Senior Estheticians, Jill agreed with Kim that the best part about our Sanctuary Spa chemical peels is how customizable they are. The peels can be tailored to each guest’s skin concerns and lifestyle. Your esthetician will decide which chemical peel is best suited for you. Before your chemical peel, we require that you receive our Personalized Facial so your esthetician can analyze your skin, observe its sensitivity, and ensure it is fit for your service.

In addition to the Progressive Peel, we offer a Chemical Peel Booster as an Enhancement, which can be added to a Personalized Facial or Microdermabrasion Facial. This approach could be used to introduce your skin to peels and allow you to begin to see the results. The esthetician has the ability to customize the booster to your skin type, but the results will take longer to appear than a Progressive peel. The Chemical Peel Booster is $45 and may add an additional 15 minutes to your service time.

When is the best time to get a Chemical Peel?

Fall and Wintertime are ideal for receiving a chemical peel! These seasons have a decreased amount of UV radiation which is ideal for the service. Since chemical peels expose layers of your skin, your skin will be more sensitive and reactive to UV rays and heat. Cool weather helps protect and speed up recovery, ensuring the best results.

You can still get chemical peels in the spring and summer, though. You must be more vigilant and take the proper precautions. Our progressive peels are ideal for these timeframes, since the peel doesn’t go that deep. Staying out of the sun and heat when possible, and using SPF, are vital to great results.

What should you expect during the service?

Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. Your esthetician will ensure that your skin is highly monitored at each step, so you can feel relaxed and informed throughout the process. Because they are tailoring the peel to your skin, the specific products will vary between guests.

You will receive information about pre-care and post-care before your service begins. You’ll have the opportunity to ask your esthetician questions at any time before, during, and after your service. You will receive your post-care products at the end of your service and your esthetician will fully explain your next steps.

Your Post-Care

Post-Care regimen products, from left to right: Soothing Cream Cleanser, EGC Relief Gel, and Drop Of Essence

After the Progressive Chemical Peel, post-care is required for 5-7 days to ensure the proper healing of your skin. Using these specific products is essential to strengthen the new skin cells and also reduce inflammation. The routine will consist of the Soothing Cream Cleanser, HA Hydra Mist Toner, EGF Relief Gel, and Drop of Essence Serum. It is important to closely follow the instructions and to not pick, rub, or scratch your skin as you may experience dryness and very light flaking.
